My name is Bina McLoughlin and as a teacher for well over 20 years, I counselled and mentored adolescents. I grew increasingly interested in the way we relate to each other and in 2005, I decided to train with the Tavistock Centre. I completed a post-graduate qualification in Couple and Individual Psychotherapy. The TCCR (Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships)is a teaching and research institute which has one of the best reputations for understanding relationships and training couples counsellors/therapists. A key part of my training was in psycho-sexual relationship therapy.
I having been seeing clients at the TCCR, now renamed Tavistock Relationships (TR) for the last few years. My specialism is working psychodynamically with a whole range of issues- whatever is bothering clients. The therapy is based on the ideas/body of theory taught at the TR as well as my life's experieces. Click image below for further details about TR.
Personal Approach - Part of my own journey has involved attending in depth therpay myself so I have a good idea what it is like 'on the couch'. I hope my clients experience me as non-judgemental and supportive whilst being rigorus and focused.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). It is one of the main professional bodies which regulates therapists and checks they are fully qualified.
